What a tragic shame that the great Waler horse has almost lost it’s recognition. Fortunately the Waler Horse Society of Australia (WHSA) formed in 1986 has done its upmost to try and preserve the identity of our famous horses, only classifying horses that they can research their origin and be satisfied the horses are in fact what they are purported to be, true Walers.

The Good News

A new herd of Waler horses has been found in the northern territory untouched by foreign stallions, pure Walers, the first four mares to arrive down south have been classified and sold to a family north of Tamworth who intend to preserve the Waler breed.
